2026 Seasonal Novenas
Our seasonal novenas are nine consecutive days of Masses, often for a particular intention, patterned after the nine days the apostles and Mary spent in prayer between the Ascension and Pentecost. The LC Mass requests seasonal novenas, which are Masses offered at specific times in the Church year at our seminary in Cheshire, CT.
Novenas to saints are also common before the saint’s feast day. Each of our novenas helps you enter the mysteries celebrated by the church seasons. At the Legion of Christ, we venerate some of our patron saints by reciting novenas.
The Legion’s patron saints are St. John the Evangelist, St. Joseph, Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Michael the Archangel, and Saints Peter and Paul.

What are seasonal novenas?
Our Seasonal Novenas are nine days of consecutive Masses, corresponding with particular liturgical seasons or feast days in the Catholic Church.
Where are they said?
All our novenas are celebrated at our Seminary chapel in Cheshire, CT.
Who resides over the Novenas?
Novenas are assigned to one particular priest.
How are my intentions remembered during the Novena?
Each day of the novena, your intention is formally included in the priest’s intention for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Intentions often include the phrase, “For all those for whom this novena is offered.” Your intentions are placed near the altar in the chapel and remain there for the duration of the novena.

November 27 to December 7, 2025
Help us celebrate Mary’s unique grace, that she was conceived without original sin, so she could freely and perfectly say “yes” to God.
When you pray this novena, we honor God’s power to restore innocence and to prepare a pure vessel for Jesus. Still, we’re also invited to ask Mary for her intercession so we may receive grace to resist sin and grow in holiness.

Surrender Novena
January 2 to January 10, 2026
There are moments in life when our hearts feel heavy and our minds race with worry—moments when we long for peace, guidance, and reassurance. Let’s all begin 2026 with The Surender Novena. This special novena invites us to place everything in the loving hands of Jesus and rest in His care.
To surrender is not to give up—it is to trust the One who loves us most. It is choosing faith over fear, hope over anxiety, and confidence over control. When we surrender all to Hod, we make room for His grace, His timing, and His perfect plan.
This Novena was given to Servant of God Fr. Don Dolindo Ruotolo, an Italian priest who lived a life of deep humility and holiness (he was a contemporary of Padre Pio, who called him “a saint”).
Feast of St. Joseph Novena

This Novena honors St. Joseph, the husband of the Virgin Mary and the earthly father (or foster father) of Jesus. His life represents humility, obedience, and faithfulness—qualities that make him a model for believers everywhere.
Here’s why this feast matters so much:

- He represents the dignity of work and family.
- He embodies silent faith.
- It’s a day of joy and celebration.
In short, March 19 isn’t just about remembering a saint —it’s about honoring a man whose quiet strength shaped the life of Jesus and continues to guide families, workers, and believers today.
Easter Resurrection Sunday

Our Easter Novena is a nine-day series of Masses focused on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior. It helps us prepare our hearts to celebrate Easter more fully, deepens our faith in Christ’s victory over sin and death, and invites us to bring our personal intentions to Him. Through this tradition of sustained prayer, we grow in hope, joy, and spiritual renewal, living more closely in the light of the Risen Lord.
Mother's Day Novena

Honoring Our Blessed Mother and All Mothers
Mother’s Day is a time to honor the women who have given us life, love, and faith. As we celebrate our earthly mothers, we turn our hearts also to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the greatest of all mothers, who tenderly cares for each of us as her own children.
This nine-day Novena of Masses invites us to reflect on Mary’s virtues —her faith, humility, courage, and unconditional love—and to ask her intercession for our mothers, living and deceased. Through her maternal heart, we entrust all mothers to God’s mercy and blessings.
Father's Day Novena

As we prepare for Father’s Day, we turn to St. Joseph, the humble and faithful guardian of the Holy Family. Chosen by God to be the foster father of Jesus, St. Joseph shows us the strength of quiet virtue, selfless love, and steadfast faith. Through his intercession, we pray for all fathers-living and deceased—that they may reflect God’s love and guidance in their families.
St. Teresa of Calcutta Novena

August 27 to September 4, 2026
St. Teresa of Calcutta dedicated her life to serving the poorest of the poor, seeing the face of Christ in every person. This Novena invites us to grow in love, humility, and selfless service, asking for her intercession in our needs and for the grace to serve God through our Neighbors.
Our Lady of Sorrows Novena

September 6 to September 14, 2026
We call to mind in this very important Novena the sorrows that our Blessed Mother endured during her life. We live in a valley of tears until we reach our heavenly homeland, and so we ask our Lady during these nine consecutive days to intercede for us.
This Novena allows you with firm confidence to unite your sufferings to Our Lady, knowing that she can console us and obtain for us graces from God. Her seven sorrows were. The Prophecy of Simeon. The Flight into Egypt. The loss of the child Jesus in the Temple. Meeting Jesus on the way to Calvary. The Crucifixion. The piercing of the side of Jesus and the Burial of Jesus. So, join us in these nine days of Masses to our Lady at our seminary in Cheshire, Connecticut.
St. John Paul II Novena

October 13 to October 21, 2026
Join us in praying a Novena to St. John Paul II, one of the most beloved saints of our time. This nine-day devotion invites us to reflect on his deep love for Christ, his courage in suffering, and his unshakable faith in God’s mercy. St. John Paul reminds us, “Do not be afraid. Open wide the doors to Christ!”
Through this Novena, we ask for his intercession for our families, our Church, and our world—that we may grow in hope, forgiveness, and a renewed love for the Eucharist.
Holy Souls in Purgatory and All Souls’ Day Novena

October 24 to November 1, 2026
Each November, the Church invites us to remember and pray for our departed loved ones—those who have died in God’s grace but still await the complete joy of Heaven. On All Souls’ Day (November 2), we especially lift the Holy Souls in Purgatory, offering prayers, sacrifices, and Masses for their purification and peace.
A Novena to the Holy Souls is nine days of Masses leading up to All Souls’ Day. Through this novena, we intercede for the faithful departed, asking God’s mercy upon them, and in turn, these souls—once united with God—intercede for us.
Christmas Nativity of our Lord Novena

As Christmas approaches, we prepare our hearts to welcome the Savior of the world through the beautiful devotion of the Christmas Novena. For nine days, we reflect on the mystery of Hod’s love made visible in the birth of Jesus. This Novena invites us to slow down, pray, and open our hearts to the peace and joy of Christ’s coming.
Each day of this novena is an opportunity to deepen our gratitude, renew our trust in God, and share His love with others as we draw near to the holy celebration of Christmas.
